We visited again the home of a homebound evacuation patient we had visited the day before. She was under observation for a urinary tract infection, but her temperature had dropped to the 96.8°F range and her other vital signs were stable. We were relieved to see her smile during the doctor’s examination. Although lifelines remained cut off, the patient preferred to live in temporary housing rather than in a shelter. The doctor gave her a letter of reference. Tomorrow, we plan to bring oral medication and disposable towels for hygiene. She seemed relieved when we told her that we would come back to check on her.
Today we continued to make rounds at the shelter and assist with bathing. The patient was actively moving and was able to take a bath safely with light assistance. We changed the bed sheets during the bath. We are glad if she can spend her time comfortably.
