Cooperation and collaboration among multiple professions and institutions

It is snowing steadily again today in Suzu City.

People in the shelter started to tell us their requests for improving the environment. First thing in the morning, there was a person who requested a cardboard bed.

Of course HuMA members alone could have prepared the beds, but we assembled them together with local people and support members from Fukui Prefecture who were on a visit to provide administrative support. A team of public health nurses from Yokohama also participated in the assembly and installation.

When the installation was completed, everyone had a look of satisfaction on their faces. We hope that the beds will help evacuees to make a comfortable daily life for them and medical care environment.

Today we made another round of medical visits. We thought that the person who had greeted us in a lying position during our previous visit might have been bedridden ever since, so today we asked HuMA Logistics, who specializes in rehabilitation, to accompany along with the doctor and nurse. The logistician (Physiotherapist) quickly checked the patient’s physical movements and gave her and her family advice on daily exercise.

Each HuMA member has his or her own expertise, but as in the case of today, we felt that the collaboration and cooperation among multiple professions and organizations will further strengthen our abilities. We will continue to do our best as supporters to enliven the affected people.
