Since it is said that living in an evacuation center can easily spread infectious diseases, HuMA arranged for the use of a vacant room in an elementary school that serves as an evacuation center to provide quarantine. What may be a common cold to a young, healthy person may be life-threatening to a person with a chronic illness or a weakened immune system due to fatigue.
There are many things that are missing, such as medicines and supplies for quarantine. We take appropriate and careful measures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases in this situation.
In addition to providing medical care at the relief station, HuMA will be assisting the affected maternity hospitals. Today, HuMA midwives were on call nearby to stand by to assist if there was likely to be a progression of deliveries during the night shift.
There was a large aftershock in the evening, and we went to the evacuation center to check on safety with the general manager. So far there are no problems, but we are preparing to head there immediately if there are any injuries.
Today, HuMA’s activities in the Noto Peninsula earthquake were featured on Asahi Broadcasting Corporation and Kansai Television.
