Medical Activity 2019 Chiba Typhoon (Japan)

2019 Chiba Typhoon
A powerful typhoon landed in Chiba prefecture, causing a power outage in a wide area. HuMA immediately sent an assessment team on September 12th. In the result of the assessment, starting from the 13th, we dispatched the medical staff in Tateyama area. We have provided various support for 16 days, such as hospital support, home visit survey for home refugees, assessment of evacuation shelters, survey of the current situation of elderly facilities, operation support for disaster volunteer center and rescue of volunteers. ASSESSMENT and Medical TEAM
Period: September 12 – 27, 2019
Members: Total of 25 – Doctors, Nurses, Logisticians, Public Health Nurses, Paramedics, Pharmacists


 2019.09.27 After providing extensive assistance in the areas affected by typhoon, we made a greeting around the end of the activity. All medical team members returned home safely. Thank you very much for all of your support. Our support activities will continue; we will regularly provide health consultations in Tateyama City!
 2019.09.26 Conducted the door-to-door visit and the stress check for the city staff.
 2019.09.25 Health consultation was conducted at the Tomisaki Community Center.
 2019.09.24 Participated in a conference held by the city and shared information that we have collected in the door-to-door survey.
 2019.09.23 Operated a volunteer relief center at the city hall.
 2019.09.22 Divided into two team. We supported to launch the volunteer relief center. Also we supported local government to collect information on the living conditions and lifeline status of residents.
 2019.09.21 Collected information and confirmed safety of residents, confirmed usage of goods, and provided medical care in Tateyama City.
 2019.09.20 Conducted a door-to-door health survey in Kuju area, and responded to poor health.
 2019.09.19 Conducted a door-to-door health survey for elderly living alone in Nishi-Misaki area.
 2019.09.18 Conducted a door-to-door health survey for elderly living alone in the Kobe area.
 2019.09.17 Performed a door-to-door visit of elderly people living alone who had not confirmed their safety in Mera area.
 2019.09.16 Surveyed facilities such as retirement facilities, nursing homes, and group homes.
 2019.09.15 Divided into two team for supporting medical examination in the emergency department and for door-to-door visits.
 2019.09.14 We assessed the shelter in jurisdictional area.
 2019.09.13 To support Awa Community Medical Center, we dispatched doctors and nurses.
 2019.09.12 Assesment team entered the field for investigation.
