First Session: Study Tour (to develop your skills to survive the initial 72hours after an earthquake)
Second Session: Group Study and Discussions「Learning HuMA’s Disaster Dispatch – Preparation」

The 2nd HuMA Kanto Study Session was held and attended by a total of 25 people.

In the first part of the program, participants took part in a hands-on program tour that recreated the Tokyo Metropolitan Earthquake in the Elevator and in shopping areas, including parks where people were hit and evacuated, shelters, and how to spend time in collapsed houses. Participants commented, “It was good to experience the flow of evacuation and to see many visually comprehensible exhibits with practical content,” “I was able to learn about the realistic situation after the disaster” and so on.

In the second part, a group discussion was held on the theme of “HuMA’s Disaster Dispatch – Preparation” to discuss information gathering in advance, personal equipment and materials, and team equipment. Participants who had been dispatched by HuMA shared their experiences.
Here are some of the comments from the participants. “I thought I had learned about necessary items in the first part of the seminar, but when I tried to think about it, I couldn’t come up with any ideas.”
“I enjoyed listening to the stories of people with various careers and those who have actually been in the field.”

We are very happy that not only HuMA members but also non-members and their children participated in this study session, which not only raised their awareness of disaster prevention but also provided them with an opportunity to get closer to the feelings of those who suffered from the disaster and to be aware of and prepare for disaster relief efforts even during normal times.

We will continue to create events to promote knowledge and skills related to disasters and HuMA’s activities through our study groups. Thank you for your continued support of the HuMA Kanto Study Group.
