10/20HuMA members continue to provide support to facilities while balancing their daily work. Although members may change, we ensure a seamless support system through handovers, striving to provide peace of mind for the residents.。
Today, a new HuMA nurse member began supporting the facility. On her first day, she successfully maneuvered two wheelchairs independently over various-sized steps to the bathroom. The nurse was warmly welcomed by both the facility staff and the residents.
Residents offered helpful advice such as, “Be careful of that big step” and “I’m fine, but that other person on a wheelchair should go backward when going over that step.” The staff also provided her with detailed instructions. By simply looking at the residents’ faces, the staff could immediately identify the size and type of clothing, diapers, socks, shoes, and the type and thickness of post-bath fluids, demonstrating their deep commitment to individual care. The nurse was truly impressed.
When HuMA team visited this facility during the Noto earthquake in January, it was in a dire situation due to a power outage. However, the facility has now been restored with polished handrails and windows, and a warm atmosphere has returned. The nurse was deeply moved by the steady progress of the recovery despite the staff shortage.
10/21Today marks one month since the flood disaster. HuMA assisted approximately 25 residents with bathing today. We will continue to do our best to contribute as volunteers.
A potted plant with a sign saying “Let’s do our best!” was placed in the hallway leading to the bathroom. |
