Suzu City, which had been sunny since morning, was suddenly hit by a torrential downpour. For the local residents who have experienced earthquakes, this abrupt change in weather must have rekindled feelings of anxiety.
At the elderly care facility supported by HuMA, there was a shortage of staff on that day, particularly in the morning for bathing assistance and dressing support. A smaller number of staff than usual had to care for many residents. Seeing the staff struggling with long working hours and heavy workloads was heartbreaking.
In Suzu City, where obstetric care has been disrupted by the earthquake, leading to a decrease in young households, it has become difficult to secure new care workers. This is a common problem faced not only by the facility we support but also by many other care facilities in the city.
Under these circumstances, HuMA will provide support for daily operations for a limited period to alleviate the burden on the facility’s staff. We intend to work with other support organizations to do everything we can to resolve the region’s caregiving issues.
