Support Activities in Flood-Affected Area (10.07)

The heavy rain intensified last night and continues to fall this morning. Rivers are swollen and muddy, roads are flooded, and the entire region is inundated.

We are currently providing support at an elderly care facility struggling with staff shortages. The facility staff, already burdened by the ongoing recovery from the recent earthquake, are facing even greater challenges due to the flooding.

Notably, evacuation orders remain in effect for some areas. Many residents have sought refuge in evacuation centers, particularly at night. Some residents are unable to evacuate due to lack of transportation or communication, and support organizations are working to assist them. The shortage of goggles is also a serious concern. The situation remains critical. Furthermore, safety concerns have arisen at temporary housing facilities in some areas. For instance, poor drainage on stairs has led to accidents and injuries. While disaster relief volunteer activities are underway, frequent interruptions due to rain are causing delays and raising concerns about progress.

We remain committed to supporting the recovery of the affected area by collaborating with local residents and other support organizations. Your continued support and generosity are crucial to helping the affected communities rebuild their lives as quickly as possible.
