Supporting Quality Care: A Day at a Nursing Home (10.03)

The rain continues to fall relentlessly. With river dredging incomplete and the possibility of flooding looming, we packed our trunk with drinking water, a battery, and a portable toilet before heading to work.

Today, we were at the elderly care facility to provide staff support. Upon arrival, we immediately began preparing the bathing area. The distance to the bathing area is considerable, and transporting the residents alone takes a significant amount of time. Despite these challenges, the staff here provide remarkably attentive care. We, too, strived to maintain the same high standard.

“We’d like to have a relaxed conversation today,” a staff member mentioned, so we gathered in the interview room to hear their thoughts and feelings. Additionally, since HuMA support staff rotates regularly, we’re working on a handover manual, incorporating the staff’s wishes as much as possible. By listening to their voices from the field and considering what can be done to alleviate their burden, we hope to continue providing this kind of support.
